Mountain bikers in the Eastern Sierra can rejoice.

The Mammoth Bike Park is set to open this Friday, June 30.

In early May, after a historic snowfall season, it was unsure if they would be able to open at all due to too much snow. The Bike Park said they expected operations to be significantly delayed and limited this summer. They even delayed selling season bike park passes due to the uncertainty. Many believed they wouldn’t open at all.

Over 700 inches of snow fell at the base area during the 2022/23 season. This left many wondering if they would ever see dirt again. Now we know the answer as the resort posted this update on its Instagram page:

There is still a ton of snow on the mountain, so it is unclear how many more trails will be opened as the summer continues. For now, it is just some lower mountain trails.

The bike park opening is excellent news, but it doesn’t mean skiing and snowboarding are over. Mammoth’s “Second Season” is still going strong, as they plan to offer skiing until the end of July.

This means Mammoth is now one of the best places to ski and mountain bike on the same day.

The magical year continues for Mammoth. Happy shredding, indeed.
