No stranger to receiving the most snow in North America, Alyeska Resort, Alaska, is at it again, with yesterday’s 12″ dump taking the ski area passed 300″ for the season. The resort has seen 302″ of fresh snow this season and has a 100″ base.
Considering it’s still mid-December, that’s an incredible total. It’s more than most resorts will see all season.
In fact, no other resort in North America has seen 200″ yet.
Alyeska averages 650″ of snowfall on the upper mountain and 512″ of snowfall at mid-mountain. The biggest year on record was 2012 when it got 978″ of snowfall.
The world record for a ski area is 1,140″ at Mt. Baker ski area, WA, in 1998/99.
