VIDEO: Big Wave Wipeout of the Year Puerto Escondido, Mexico is a legendary place for enormous, tubing waves. The best big wave surfers swarm to the place when big swells roll in. This past May, Puerto got huge and Tom Lowe of Cornwall, England was there see it. Tom did more than just see it, though. He took this vicious free-fall wipeout and put himself into legendary wipeout status. 1st Ever Rodeo Flip Landed in Competition: John John Florence John John Florence landed the first rodeo flip ever landed in World Tour competition on Saturday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil at the Oi Rio Pro. The entire contest was basically 7-foot close-outs with steep ramps perfect for aerial maneuvers. John John didn’t even have a great ramp for this trick, he just went for it and pulled it off. Japanese Surfer Dies in Shark Attack in Australia Yesterday: A 41-year old Japanese surfer died after being attacked by a shark while surfing off Shelley Beach in Australia’s New South Wales. It’s being reported that the shark inflicted severe injuries to the surfer’s legs. The attacked surfer was helped to the beach by other surfers.
