Ski season starts at California’s Mammoth Mountain tomorrow, Friday, October 29. The Panorama Gondola will be spinning to the summit with access to Cornice Bowl and Road Runner.

More than two feet of snow fell on Mammoth this week as the perfect storm of an atmospheric river and bomb cyclone brought record-breaking precipitation to California. The storm brings the season snowfall to 41″, the second snowiest October on record, trailing only 2004.

Forecasted cold overnight temperatures will allow early-season snowmaking to continue and expand terrain available on opening day. Because of this excellent early season coverage, Mammoth will open Friday, October 29th—two weeks earlier than anticipated.
