Multiple Winter Storm Warnings in Colorado: 8-16” of Snow Today Through Saturday

Colorado is about to get pounded with snow.  Multiple winter storm warnings are in effect today through Saturday with snowfall totals forecasted around 8-16”.  This will be a significant snow event in Colorado.

Please check in with the Colorado Avalanche Information Center before going into the backcountry this weekend.  Last weekend, the CAIC issued a special avalanche warning due to large scale instabilities in the snowpack.

  MOST OF THE SNOWFALL IN ZONE 10...ASPEN...VAIL...IS EXPECTED TO
  FALL IN SOUTHERN PARTS OF THE ZONE. SOME LULLS CAN BE EXPECTED
  WHERE SNOW BECOMES LIGHT OR STOPS ALL TOGETHER BEFORE PICKING UP
  AGAIN.

* SNOW ACCUMULATION...8 TO 16 INCHES OF SNOW WITH LOCALLY HIGHER
  AMOUNTS EXPECTED.

* SNOW LEVEL...8000 FEET DROPPING TO VALLEY FLOORS FRIDAY MORNING.

* WINDS...SOUTHWEST 5 TO 10 MPH.
