Not long after Brighton Ski Resort, UT, announced it would be opening on Friday, its Big Cottonwood Canyon neighbor Solitude Mountain Resort announced it would be opening today, Thursday, November 10th.

“Early season snowfall and low temps allowed us to set up the mountain pretty early in the season this year. We estimate that between 50 and 200 snowboarders and skiers have been coming up here every day since the first big storm a few weeks ago.”

– Jared Winkler, Brighton Resort director of marketing

Today’s opening will be Solitude’s earliest since 2013. Solitude was scheduled to open November 11th, and Brighton November 18th.

Solitude has had 79″ of fresh snow (22″ in the last 24 hours) and Brighton 60″.

Solitude will be running the Moonbeam and Link lifts from 2:00 pm for Solitude and Ikon Pass holders. No reservations are required for Ikon Pass holders.

Brighton will be running the Majestic, Explorer, and Snake Creek lifts from 9 am to 4 pm on Friday, and expect the Crest Express lift to be open soon after opening day. Night skiing will begin on December 12th.

Brian Head Resort kicked off Utah’s ski season with its earliest-ever opening on Friday, November 4th.
