A fourth Tahoe ski resort has announced that opening day will be delayed due to warm weather and lack of snow. Sugar Bowl Resort announced Monday that they will not be opening as planned this Friday.

The resort follows Palisades Tahoe, Northstar, and Heavenly in postponing opening day. Mammoth Mountain remains the only option for skiers and riders in California this holiday weekend.

Winter hasn’t quite arrived in Tahoe yet. With the forecast calling for more mild and dry weather this week, we are pushing back our scheduled opening day.

Our snowmaking team is ready to flip the switch on our fleet of high-powered snow guns across the resort whenever conditions allow. We look forward to seeing you once we are able to spin the lifts, so stay tuned for updates. As soon as we know, we will let you know. Sign up at sugarbowl.com/email for updates.

In the meantime we are doing our best snow dances on Instagram. We thought it might be fun to run a contest to see all the funny rituals people do to make it snow. You can enter by posting an Instagram story of what you do and tagging us and #makeitsnow. Our three favorites, posted by December 1, will win an exclusive Sugar Bowl x Arcade belt, a New Era hat and more.
