Austria Conditions Report: Powder, Sun and Big Terrain November has been a very unusual month in Austria. It’s been the warmest November ever recorded in weather history (in 240 years). That of course meant close to no snow at all in the mountains except of course on the glaciers and at higher elevations above 2500m. So we have been waiting and praying for colder weather and snow. 3-Feet of New Snow in the Alps Today | Photo Tour: A snowstorm came down hard on the European Alps yesterday. Today, they awoke to up to 3-feet of new snow in parts of Autsria and beyond. This early season storm is the result of the remains of hurricane Gonzalo. It pounded the alps yesterday with winds up to 90mph and snow levels as low as 2,500-feet. As you can see from these photos, certain parts of the alps got dumped on – mainly Austria. VIDEO: Skiing Powder in Austria on July 3rd, 2014 Austria just got a bit of a snowstorm this past week. These photos are from Hintertuxer Gletcher ski resort in Austria on June 30th, 2014 and July 2nd, 2014. Yeah, that’s a lot of snow for late June. British Teenager with Avalanche Airbag Dies in Austrian Avalanche A British father, his twin boys, and there ski instructor were skiing off-piste at Lech am Arlberg ski resort in Austria at 1:24pm on Tuesday, December 17th, 2013 when they were caught in an avalanche.
