Squaw Valley, CA Conditions Report: Ripping Groomers and Good Coverage

Neat groomers and tracks off piste

Squaw Valley 1/14 Conditions I went snowboarding at Squaw Valley this last Monday. While the snow off-piste wasnโ€™t all that great, the groomers were really cruisy and perfect for checking out coverage before the oncoming storm. As I rode around it was cool to see bomb holes from the last pow day. People went huge, and I saw tracks on lines that Iโ€™ve [โ€ฆ]

Headwall, Mountain Run, & Lower Mountain Close @ Squaw Today

Snow is melting away fast at Squaw Valley. High temperatures were in the 60 everyday this week and you can tell. Waterfalls, creeks, and cascades are ubiquitous at Squaw right now. Itโ€™s loud out there with all the water flowing. The lower mountain is losing about a foot of snow per day. This melting has lead to the Mountain Run winding down to a 3 foot wide strip of snow that doesnโ€™t actually connect to the base area any longer. Hopefully Squaw farmed some snow last night and fixed that zone a touch just get us through the day today. [โ€ฆ]

Squaw Update: Upper Mt. Only by Next Week, Squaw will likely Close April 22nd

Red Dog closed for the season today.  KT-22 and Headwall will most likely follow suit next monday. The entire lower mountain will likely be closed next week and there is a good chance Squaw will completely close on April 22nd. Large dirt patches are all over the Mountain Run and itโ€™s getting less and less realistic to keep things [โ€ฆ]
