Whistler closed for the winter season on June 7th. Tomorrow, they open back up for a month of glacier skiing on the Hortsman Glacier. Only 2 Ski Resorts STILL OPEN in North America:

Canada is out. Whistler just closed for the season yesterday and they had a terrifically long season given the lower than average snowfall. That said, they had a pretty great season in the alpine this year with wet snow sticking to everything making many lines like DOA very doable and even some really big stuff went down this year up there. Refugio Frey in Bariloche, Argentina today. Just in case you were wondering, South American ski resorts open on June 20th...

We’re getting down to the very end now. Killington, VT was planning on staying open weekends in June, but warm weather melted the snow off Superstar this past weekened and they’re now closed for the season. There are now only 3 ski resorts left but they are all open daily this week. Arapahoe Basin extended their season last week adding on extra weekend on Jun 12-14th. Oregon, Colorado, and Canada are still in the game. Let’s all get out there and get after it while we still can. […]

4 Ski Resorts STILL OPEN in North America:

Memorial Day brought powder to Colorado and Mammoth, CA and Arapahoe Basin, CO. Mammoth ended up with a 5″ powder day on Sunday that was too fun. Mammoth is now closed for the season, but we’re blown away they were able to stay open from mid November until Memorial Day on the worst snowfall season on record. Thanks Mammoth. We lost some big ski resorts last weekend and we had one ski resort saved by a big snowstorm. Mammoth was scheduled to close yesterday but an 18-inch dump of snow extended their season indefinitely. Yeah, there’s still 3 ski resorts open in North America. Kind of amazing, right? Timberline on Mt. Hood never closes. Beartooth Basin, summer only ski resort, is still open another couple weeks. Whistler just reopened last week for glacier skiing on the Blackcomb glacier and they’ll be going strong until late July. Last week, there were 7 ski resorts still open for skiing and riding. Since then, we lost 4 ski resorts but added one. Yep, there is a summer only ski resort in the USA and it’s called Beartooth Basin. They got around 150% of average snowfall and things are lookin’ good up there. Mammoth’s closing weekend was super sexy and frighteningly fun. We’re confident Whistler and Snowbird finalized in the same fashion. Last week, there were 14 ski resorts still open for skiing and riding. Of those 14, ten remain and we’ll be losing 3 of those by Monday. Last week, a few of these ski resorts got full on powder days. In fact, Snowbird has had an insane May with long strings of powder days. Locals in Snowbird are fired up. This week, spring is back with a vengeance with high temperatures all over the West. It’ll be 71F at the bast of Mammoth tomorrow. Get out there and make some turns this weekend. By next Monday, there will only be 6 ski resorts still open. Yesterday, there were 25 ski resorts open in North America. Today, only 14 remain open for skiing and riding. Of those 14, only 9 are open daily. The other 5 are only open on weekends.
