Record Breaking Snowfall in Canada

North Eastern BC received a record breaking 55 centimeters, or about 21 inches, of snow over between Tuesday and Wednesday. Cities like Fort Saint John suffered from power outages, multiple-car wrecks, and cancelation of public transportation. Things should be looking up, though, as the rest of their week is forecasted to be sunny and near 60 degrees. Stay safe Canada.

CalTrans: Sonora Pass, CA Will NOT Open as Scheduled Today Due To Snowstorm… Again…

Tioga Pass & Sonora Pass REOPEN Today After Snowstorm Closures

Tioga Pass & Sonora Pass have reopened today at about 9am. Happy Memorial Weekend! 9,624-foot Sonora Pass never did reopen after the last snowstorm closed both Tioga and Sonora back on May 14th. Mammoth had a fun little powder day yesterday and today should be even better. It snow like crazy for a long time yesterday afternoon/evening. The weather is forecast to continue to be unsettled the next few days. We’re hoping they can get Tioga reopened for the big Memorial Day Weekend. We’ll keep you posted. […]

NOAA has issued a Special Weather Statement for Lake Tahoe, CA for this weekend. They are calling for 6-12 inches of snow to fall in Tahoe over the weekend. As you most likely saw on the news, Buffalo and surrounding areas got rocked by as much as 7 feet of snow last week. Snow was coming down so fast and so heavy, over 140 motorists became stuck in their cars on I-90, stranded for over 30 hours on 132 miles of closed highway. The Great Lakes Region is getting uber nuked on today via a large Lake-Effect snow event. 3 feet of snow has fallen in spots with 5 to 6 foot deep snow drifts. Some areas are forecasts to receive up to 60 inches of snow by Friday morning. A snowstorm came down hard on the European Alps yesterday. Today, they awoke to up to 3-feet of new snow in parts of Autsria and beyond. This early season storm is the result of the remains of hurricane Gonzalo. It pounded the alps yesterday with winds up to 90mph and snow levels as low as 2,500-feet. Avalanche & Snowstorm Kills At Least 22 Hikers in Nepal

Category 4 Cyclone Hud Hud hit the hikers location on Tuesday and unleashed an unimaginable snowstorm.

A severe snowstorm and avalanche has killed at least 17 hikers in Nepal and many more are potentially missing. The unseasonal snowstorm was caused by the enormous category-4 cyclone Hud-Hud that impacted Eastern India and slammed in the southern slopes of the Himalaya.
