NOAA Forecasts 6-10″ for Wasatch Mts, UT Today | Snowbird Gets 14″…

NOAA forecast 6-10″ of snow for the Wasatch mountains of Utah today (ie Alta, Snowbird, Solitude, and Brighton).  Snowbird didn’t care about that forecast and got 14″ of snow, or 40% over the forecast, anyway – and there’s more snow on the way.  Boom. NOAA: 6-14 of Snow Forecast for Utah in the Next 3 Days

NOAA has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Utah today including Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons.  The advisory goes into effect at 8pm tonight and remains in effect until 1pm on Wednesday. 10-17″ of Snow Forecast for Alta, UT Today

Utah is about to have it’s go with the storm that just dropped up to 2-feet of snow in Lake Tahoe. NOAA is currently forecasting 6-15″ of snow for Little Cottonwood Canyon (Snowbird and Alta) today. Alta has gotten 265″ of snowfall this season and has a 69″ base. NOAA: 10-20″ of Snow for the Wasatch, UT

Utah is having it’s warmest winter on record, which isn’t great. But, right now, Utah has a Winter Storm Warning in effect and the Cottonwood Canyons are expecting 10-20 inches of new snow, which is nice. It’s been so warm and dry in Utah, that NOAA Salt Lake City even got a little snarky with their latest Facebook post: For the first time since December, many of you will see big orange trucks on the northern Utah area roadways. NOAA: Record Heat for Utah So Far This Winter & More Coming

Utah has had a bit rough winter thus far in Utah. The numbers above are all for Salt Lake City, not for the high mountains. Alta is reporting 193″ of total snowfall this winter, which is good. It has been warm this year, though, even in the mountains and there is more on the way. Heat is coming tomorrow for Utah Salt Lake City is expected to hit 65ºF tomorrow. That’s hot.
