A huge spring storm has dumped almost 5-FEET on some resorts in the Alps this weekend. Although some of these resorts should be open but are closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, it does set things up nicely for the summer glacier ski season, if it is allowed to happen.

Some resorts normally stay open into May, Tignes and Val d’Isere in France for example. Cervinia in the Aosta Valley, Italy was due to be open this week.

The Grande Motte glacier in Tignes is still due to open for summer skiing, although how and when that will be possible is still unclear. There is a restriction on sporting events in France until September, the famed Tour de France will begin at the very end of August into September, but there is a planned relaxation of lockdown measures. How this will all affect the summer ski season, nobody really knows. What we do know is, that, if resorts do open conditions will be awesome!
