April and May brought lower temps than normal and very little rain so the snow took an unusually long time to melt. Here is the result. Boston Still Has a 12-Foot Tall Pile of Snow… Boston got a record 110-inches of snow this past winter and they’re still dealing with some of the remnants of the powerful winter that was. Boston’s Seaport district still has a 12-foot high pile of snow laying on the ground. It’s July and Boston still has snow from winter. Crazy, right? The Seaport district has 11 “snow farms” built to deal with the abundance of snow in Boston this past winter. The 12-foot snow pile in the image above was once 75-feet tall and covered 4 acres. Mayor Tells Bostonians to Stop Jumping from Windows After four huge storms have slammed Boston with 8 feet of snow, the city’s residents are starting to get a little stir-crazy. A new social media challenge has spread: the #BostonBlizzardChallenge has “daredevils” leaping from windows into the enormous snow piles below. Fenway Park Buried in 3 Feet of Snow With just two months until opening day, the Red Sox better pray for warm weather. Fenway Park is buried under 3 to 4 feet of snow, following Boston’s snowiest 30-day period in history. While the Red Sox head down to Fort Myers for spring training, Boston will be digging out after another storm on Saturday and Sunday.
