Report from November 25, 2022
Yesterday, I got my rope team up on the Martial Glacier in Ushuaia, Argentina for glacier travel practice and some great skiing.
We started off in rain and sleet and wind…
As we rose, the weather improved until it was sunny, windy, and nice.
My crew did great with rope travel, crampons, and ice axes.
It was time to ski.
We dropped into a hint of new snow on corn and it ripped.
I was hooting!
We skied down the glacier and reveled in the roller coaster feeling on the rollover.
In the lower glacier zone, I found a skinny ‘chute’ and decided to slap some spice on it.
One of my clients, Ben, is a badass telemarketer and fellow Palisades Tahoe shredder and he followed me through it!
I didn’t expect that…
The other clients politely went around and we were very impressed with the weather’s improvement and the snow quality.
From there it was scrapey to the brown tongue couloir at the bottom to get back to the trail.
The rest of the day was full of stories, lies, good times, apres ski, and rum on pork.
