Whistler, B.C. Conditions Report + Photo Tour: Opening Weekend and Overhead Powder What an opening for Whistler Blackcomb! I personally could not make it up for their official opening days, and had some serious fear of missing out. From photos on Instagram and word of mouth from buddies up at the resort, the opening few days were some of the best in a long time. People had photos of overhead powder and it looked unreal. Whistler Blackcomb Conditions Report: Five Star Slush Whistler Blackcomb is in full on spring mode. With an awesome park setup and 5 star corn to go and harvest, it is hard to go wrong with spring in Whistler. This weekend was especially sunny making the skiing that much more fun. We started the day off with some Spankeyโs laps which were the smoothest spring skiing I have had in a while. With almost perfect corn, slush, powder smooth snow it was hard to want to change it up. We eventually ventured to the Couloir Extreme and found similarly fantastic snow. At the end of the day we decided to have some quick laps and rode the front side of Glacier chair which has a lot of fun hits in it, as well as a few runs through the park. Whistler Blackcomb Conditions Report: WSSF Spring Shredding This weekend was the first weekend of the World Ski and Snowboard Festival at Whistler, and to start it off right we have had two bright and hot days up on the mountain. In the morning the snow was pretty hard, with signs cautioning about ice on most aspects. However, by around 11am most slopes were slushy and soft to shred on. Whistler Blackcomb Conditions Report: Break from Spring Skiing Spring break has taken a pause with the weather and delivered some refreshing snow over the past day. Earlier this week temperatures were notoriously high allowing for a lot of slush skiing and goggle tans. This trend took a short break to deliver about 9cm over the last day with more snow expected overnight. Conditions Report Peter Wentz | April 5, 2016 0 Comments
Whistler Blackcomb Conditions Report: Miracle March Continues Well this has been quite the miracle March up in Whistler. We have basically been hit with snow all month with brief periods of sunlight in between. One week we had over 100cm of snow, and it looks like March has not stopped yet. Recently temps have been a bit warmer than the rest of the month, but that does not mean that there is still no good snow to be found. You simply just need to go higher up on the mountain. Whistler B.C. Conditions Report: Killer Start to March March is here and Whistler is looking great these days. To start the month off right the weather man delivered 34cm of snow up top. There was some wind with this snow so it built up to be a lot deeper in some areas and slimmer in others. Some windblown areas had a thick wind slab layer that would be easy to hook up on, so if you are going fast be aware of that. Conditions Report Peter Wentz | March 2, 2016 0 Comments
Whistler B.C. Conditions Report and Photo Tour: Clear Skies and Alpine Chalk This last week Whistler has been in and out of a nice storm cycle. We finally had a good break of weather today and seems like the sun will continue through the week. Recently things did a get a little warm and there is a melt freeze layer near the bottom of Red Chair on Whistler and near the bottom of Spankeyโs on Whistler. Above that though the snow is consistent, predictable, and shredable. Conditions Report Peter Wentz | February 22, 2016 0 Comments
Whistler B.C. Conditions Report: Pow Skiing Continues The last three days in Whistler have been pretty awesome. On Monday the resort got buffed out by wind making everything up high on Whistler ski like it was fresh powder. Then that night we were hit with a solid amount of snow, and some partly cloudy skies for Tuesday. Tuesday was the day to get after it and people for sure did. In the morning it was a bit crowded, but by the afternoon the crowds had left and you were able to roll right onto the chair. By the afternoon on the slopes directly facing the sun the snow got a bit warm and heavy but the majority of it stayed cold and really good to ride.
