Beartooth Basin, Summer Only Ski Resort, Is CLOSED for the Season It’s true: Beartooth Basin summer only ski resort is closed for the season. Kinda sad, but still great that we have a summer only ski resort in North America. Beartooth Basin, MT/WY opened this year on May 24th, 2014 and they stayed open until July 6th, 2014. That means they were open for an incredible 45 days this year. Well, a few less we suppose, as that big snowstorm they got in June shut down the road for a couple days. That said, that’s rad that Beartooth had a few powder days this summer. Beartooth also got about 150% of normal snowfall during the 2013/14 winter giving them a solid base to work with. Moran, Wyoming Conditions Report: Summer Solstice Party Ski 12,605-foot Moran is a classic mountain, and skiing the skillet is mega classic, so in order to make it obscure, we decided to have a summer solstice party and also ski during a snowstorm. The rest of the trip was clear and sunny, but we nailed the timing and became engulfed in a cloudy, white-out snowstorm just as we were arriving at the summit.
