Report from September 11, 2023 On Monday, we sauntered out into the backcountry for the afternoon. It was Stormin’ Norman all morning then the clouds started to break up as per forecast. The first thing we did when we got up high was dig a pit in a familiar zone. The results were a bit touchy. We know this zone […]

VIDEO: Hucking a 30-Footer Off a Greenland Iceberg on an Inflatable Pizza Slice

This just looks fun! Ethan Pringle takes a victory lap after a six-week expedition in Greenland. “Our second to last day on the boat, headed back to civilization, we came across this perfect iceberg- a big ole mother with a long, perfectly angled slope that led to a 20 foot drop off. Well, I’m here to tell you folks, pizzas […]

Grand Targhee Conditions: The End of the World

Grand Targhee conditions

Sometimes, when the world is ending, you just have to make the best of it.  Jackson Hole Mountain Resort has been shut down for days because of a power outage. Right now almost all roads out of Jackson are closed. It’s raining in Teton Valley. But yesterday I snuck up to Grand Targhee after work. My expectations were pretty low, because […]

Bariloche, Argentina Conditions Report: Backcountry Bliss

North face of La Laguna today.

Catedral ski resort in Bariloche, Argentina just got a 2-foot storm. Yesterday, the snow was light and fluffy in La Laguna and just about everywhere on the mountain. As always happens in the Andes, the wind blew last night and pressed the snow pretty good in most spots. Upper and Lower La Laguna held up to the wind well and stayed relatively light and fluffy. The Playground got wind pressed and the afternoon sun that came out yesterday cooked it pretty good. The snow was punchy and catchy in the Playground today. Lower Laguna was stellar […]

$h*t F*#k Conditions: Johan Jonsson Crushing the Crud

If you haven’t already seen this video floating around the internets, stop what you’re doing and watch it now. Johan Jonsson is not a human. He is a $h*t F*#k conditions shredding machine. Watch as he crushes lines that would make anyone pucker, and does so in some horrendous conditions. This is some of the strongest skiing we’ve seen in a long while…if not ever. […]

Hucking Good @ Bariloche, Argentina Today | 4 Day Storm Total = 80+ Inches…

This report is from 6:30pm local time. At almost every ski resort in the far west people say “Yeah, but it can all change in one day” when conditions are bad.  The saying sounds stupid to visitors, but it’s 100% true.  This is exactly what happened here at Catedral ski resort in Bariloche, Argentina the past 3.5 days. 4 days […]
