Trip Report: 13,366′ Point Powell, CA – “Point Powell Couloir”

Report from June 9, 2023 13,366′ Point Powell Couloir, CA Kicked My Ass Yesterday! 14-miles, 10 hrs & 12 mins, & 4,000-vertical-feet was noticeable… Ferociously gorgeous terrain. Skins on/skins off, skis on/skis off, heel-risers up/heel-risers down, boot buckled/boots unbuckled, walk mode/ski mode – and that was both ways – both on the way up and the way down. I was […]

New England is known for it’s seasonality. Cold, dark, long Winters – hot humid Summers – wet yet beautiful and rejuvenating Springs – and spectacular Falls with crisp air and bright leaves. However, the month of June falls by the wayside a bit. June is not known for anything special. Most plants are in the ground by now, spring is transitioning to summer, but the heat has yet to fully arrive. So what should June in New England […]

Only 2 Ski Resorts STILL OPEN in North America:

Canada is out. Whistler just closed for the season yesterday and they had a terrifically long season given the lower than average snowfall. That said, they had a pretty great season in the alpine this year with wet snow sticking to everything making many lines like DOA very doable and even some really big stuff went down this year up there. Only one ski resort is open daily this week. Arapahoe Basin, CO will be open for the weekend, then that’s it. Next week, there will be only one ski resort open in North America. […]
