Sego Skis Is Killing It! | Serious Growth Seen By Local Tetons Ski Company

Manufacturing Sego Skis

For the last four years, Sego Skis has been hand-making quality products here in the United States. Their commitment to excellence has surely paid off. In 2015, they produced 200 pairs of skis…last year that number jumped to 1,800 pairs! Add 200 snowboards in the mix and that’s some truly impressive growth. “We make skis for people who love skiing to […]

Ever Fall in Love With a Pair of Skis? | “A Boy & His Skis”

When I made my way out west ten years ago I possessed a lifetime worth of hopes, expectations and dreams, along with two brand new pairs of skis to make it happen. That day that I first laid eyes on what would be my powder skis, a pair of grey and silver Rossignol Scratch BCs, I would have no idea whatsoever just how far they would take me. My first impression was that they were huge. All 90mm under foot of them just seemed so unbelievably wide. Sure I had skied on bigger skis before, my dad was an early adopter of the true powder ski with a pair of Volant Ti Chubs. He had a pair of Bandit XXXs until I lost them, which is another story for another day. Those were huge, but sitting in my […]

Armada Headquarters Leaving Sunny SoCal for the Greatest Snow on Earth

Armada Ski Company is packing its bags and heading east, leaving its long time Costa Mesa, California offices and heading to Park City, Utah. The move puts Armadas headquarters closer to the mountains than their previous location of sunny Southern California, where the closest resort, Big Bear is a two hour drive, and Mammoth close to six. Park City will […]

TOP GUN: The 4 Award Winning Women’s Skis of 2015

2015 DPS Yvette 112 RP.2

In case you haven’t noticed it yet, girls are different than boys. Thank god. Not only are they better looking and smarter, but they ski different, move different, and are built different. For years, the ski industry tried to address these differences by painting pretty pictures on men’s skis and calling them women’s skis. That didn’t work. Now, some actual science has come into this and women’s skis have evolved brilliantly. Women’s skis now have women specific flex patterns, shapes, and sizes. All this adds up to women’s skis that help women rip even harder than ever before. […]

TOP GUN: The 6 Award Winning All-Mountain Skis of 2015

2015 Nordica NRGY 100

The one quiver ski? The everyday ski? The ski that can do it all? Sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it? In this day and age, it isn’t. There are some beefy all mountain skis out there that you can ski everyday. Especially if you go a bit shorter in length, these things will even hit the park. The only conditions these ski might not be perfectly perfect for is extremely deep powder. For those riduculously deep days, it’s good to have an obnoxiously large powder ski. Unfortunately, those stupidly deep days only come so often and for just about all other days, these award winning all mountain skis will do the trick. […]

Chicks Who Rip | K2 MissFits in Murren, Switzerland

Last year, K2 sent three of their best skiing and looking female athletes, McKenna Peterson, Pip Hunt and Amie Engerbretsen, to Murren, Switzerland to ski big, bold and burly lines. While there the ladies encountered high avalanche danger, deep pow, manky slush and wind buff but made the most of it all. This winter McKenna and Pip and several others will be taking skills […]

RAMP Peacepipe | Ski Review

Last season I almost exclusively skied on RAMP Skis. With the majority of that skiing being on the RAMP Peacepipe, one of their “Hard Charging Powder Skis”. For myself I skied on the 179cm model mounted with Look Pivots on the recommended mounting point. In total during the 2012/2013 snow sliding season I put over 120 days on my skis. Working with the Snowbird Ski Patrol meant a vast majority of those days were 8-10 hour days of “work”. When on the clock I don’t always have the choice to ski where I want. This means skiing in unfavorable conditions such as frozen chicken-heads and sheets of ice that […]

Friday Fun: “What It’s Like to Fall Down Tuckerman’s Ravine in New Hamphire”

Here’s a little Friday Funday video for ya.  Although, on close examination, there is a bit more carnage than you’re average funday, it’s still acceptable as we’re pretty sure the guy is unhurt. We’ve never been out to Tuckerman’s but we’ve heard the stories of mayhem and directly-ontop-of-each-other-ness that Tuck’s has become famous for.  This video displays that side of […]
