Winter Chalk: Alta Conditions Update + Photo Tour

After receiving over 6 feet of snow over Christmas week, the skiing continues to rip at Alta with the start of the New Year. Soft wintery snow was to be found all over, with the best turns hanging out off of High Traverse on Collins. Supreme lift also had some fun off the skiers right, as well as skiing upper chair line under Collins. Alta is always one of our favorite places, even a week after the storm, the majority of the mountain remains smooth, chalky, and ripping. Alta Got So Much Snow, They Couldn’t Open Today…

A huge storm in Utah left Alta with so much snow, they couldn’t open today. On what would have been their third day this season, Alta decided to remain closed for the safety of their skiers. “After our morning of work, this great storm is still ahead of us. We are going to continue control work and grooming this afternoon and remain closed for skiing. We plan on opening Monday morning at 9:15.
