9 Incredible Sierra Nevada, California Snow Records:

Squaw Valley, alpine meadows, california, snowiest month ever, februburied

The Sierra Nevada is no stranger to big snowstorms. As far back as the November 1846, The Donner Party learned this the hard way with a 5-foot overnight snowstorm. Since snowfall record keeping began in 1879, there have been some incredible snowstorms in the Sierra Nevada of California. The Sierras still get huge amounts of snow with Sugar Bowl ski resort leading the charge with 500โ€ณ of snow per year. This isnโ€™t surprising as Sugar Bowl is located on Donner Pass, where many of the records below took place. [โ€ฆ]

The Top Snowfall Events in Recorded History

Is it possible to have too much of a good thing? Can it really snow too much? What is too much snow? These are questions that skiers and boarders often ponder on lift chairs or over a beer. If you live in a big city then a couple of inches is too much. It makes traffic come to a crawl, sidewalks become impassible and in 24 hours the once pristine, fluffy white magic is now a shade between dog piss and grey. Ugh!! I personally think there can never be enough snow as long as Iโ€™m not driving in it. [โ€ฆ]
