Report from January 23, 2021

We went for a long walk in the Tetons today.

We were guaranteed deep powder.

We were sure of it.

A large part of the hike was really hot.

Sweat pouring down my face.

Up top, we still expected pow.

On the first pitch, we noticed it was pretty dense…

The further we went down, the funkier it got.

Eventually, the snow had a 3cm deep crust on top of it.

It was fun to ski, but it was exhausting.

The slope we skied was east facing.

It’s likely that north-facing slopes will still hold good snow tomorrow but I’m pretty confident that east and south-facing snow will be as funky as it gets…
